Richard Mofe-Damijo leads a stellar ensemble cast in a thriller asking: who would you trust with something powerful enough to feed the world?

Take 7 Media & Entertainment, in association with Sutoritera Limited, today confirmed that A Land Apart, a high-stakes political thriller set in an alternate Nigeria that never discovered oil but built the world's dominant agricultural superpower instead, will open in cinemas nationwide on 23 October 2026 through distributor Nile Entertainment. The release follows a Best Feature Film win at the 2026 Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF), an official selection at Cannes Marché du Film's Creative Africa Content Pavilion, a shortlist for the Best of Africa Pitch at the NIFTV Summit in Paris, and a selection for the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF).
In this reimagined Nigeria, the Ahura Agric International Corporation (AAIC) and its formula AX-103 kept the continent fed through a global ecological collapse known as The Rot, making its founder, Dekera Ahura, the most powerful man in Africa. When Dekera is killed hours before he is set to trade the formula, AX-103, to a nation of his choosing, control of his empire -- and Africa's food future -- falls to Dooshima Bida Ahura, the illegitimate daughter he secretly raised as his heir. As foreign powers circle and Dekera's own family refuses to accept an outsider's claim, Dooshima must uncover who killed her father before she becomes the next target. A Land Apart asks a question with real-world urgency: in a world running out of food, who do we trust with what feeds it?
Richard Mofe-Damijo leads a stellar cast alongside Princess Mufeedah, Sam Dede, Daniel Etim Effiong, Adam Garba, Ronya Man, Frank Donga, Ummi Baba Ahmed, Iveren Antiev, Preach Bassey, and Onyeka Onwenu as Madam Ngozi, the Market Queen of Zaki Biam.
A Land Apart is directed by Bem Pever, founder of Take 7 Media & Entertainment, whose credits include 4th Republic (Netflix), Maia (Amazon Prime), Kariya, and Hidden Riches. The film is executive produced by Samira Buhari, written by Emil Garuba and Michael Garuba, and produced by Bem Pever, Sally Williams Ngwobia, and Emil Garuba.
"A Land Apart imagines a Nigeria that built its future on a different resource entirely," said director Bem Pever. "But underneath the alternate history, it's a family story and a thriller about the same question every nation is quietly asking right now: who do we trust with what feeds us?"
A Land Apart opens in cinemas nationwide across Nigeria on 23 October 2026, distributed by Nile Entertainment. International festival and market screenings continue through late 2026.
